THE 5TH ANNUAL RECOVERY WALK CAPE TOWN ORGANISING TEAM 2019.

WHO ARE WE?

The Recovery Walk in Cape Town is organised by a team of volunteers.

Some are in recovery, some are supportive of recovery and some work in the field of addiction treatment and mental health.

Being in recovery is not a requirement. Being supportive of recovery is.

WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?

We support open recovery from alcoholism, addiction and mental illness.

We support inclusive clean & sober events.

We support intersectional communal spaces.

We support the many pathways to recovery.

We are blame, shame and stigma free.

We are not affiliated with any organisations, corporations, 12-step groups, political parties or religions.

WHY WALK?

We walk to celebrate recovery from alcoholism, addiction and mental illness.

We walk to show that we do recover.

We walk to honour the many pathways to recovery.

We walk to challenge blame, shame and stigma.

We walk to celebrate our own recovery and the recovery of others.

We walk to celebrate the people who work within the field of healthcare.

We walk to show our solidarity with global recovery movements.
